The Soviets launched their big summer offensive for the year on the 14th of July. The 1st Guards Tank Army was scheduled to advance through the sector of the 3rd Guards Army and crack open the Germans second line along the Polish-Soviet border. Both formations were then to drive into central Poland and head for the Vistula River. The 1st Guards Tank Brigade was assigned to help the 76th Rifle Corps in its attack to break the German lines. Nearby German armored formations were quickly rushed in to seal the breach.
Objectives: Continue southwards and engage any enemy behind the lines.
